The question has been floating around for years and the answer has yet to come. Being a rapper in Canada who wants to play with the big boys and move units across borders is nearly impossible. Just ask Kardinal Offishall! It’s not that they don’t like us, but there’s a million dudes holding a MIC who sit in a line up waiting for their name to be called. To make it you have to establish a takeover from all angles and if they still won’t let you in, there is only one way to go and get it.

Finding something so special is like finding a diamond in the dirt. The streets is hungry for the music but the industry is like The Matrix, and we have only seen “The One” come through only a few times. The last time this event took place was when 50 Cent came along and forever changed the rap game. He set out to make his mark by any means necessary, and thus came the classic album “Get Rich Or Die Trying”. Today, as the world goes about their daily lives, something very special is happening in Toronto, Canada. It has been happening since the year of 2005, when one artist took himself out of the line up and decided to be on his way.

Armed with talented entrepreneurs, engineers who create magic on the boards, marketers and promoters who send the word in every corner of every hood, photographers that make sure that you really get the picture, and most of all fans that will do anything to see him put the city on the map, Richie Sosa and his crew, The Count Money Cartel (CMC) are ready to shake things up and break all the boundaries set by the industry towards artists from the north.

What is it that sets Richie Sosa apart from the other talented cats from Canada? It’s his gritty flow, his flawless delivery, his unique swagger, and not to mention his versatility. Having lived a past filled with violence, struggle, and jail time has definitely played a role in the shaping of a man who brings amazing presence on the microphone and an artist who has the ability, experience, and talent to tell vivid street stories.

Richie Sosa has already surpassed local fame and is already capturing international attention, gaining new fans every time they listen to his music. As he continues his way to the top, his international buzz has landed him on the charts of countries such as Israel, The Netherlands, and Germany to name a few. America itself has already had a taste of what Sosa can bring to the table. In 2007, with the help of his friend, a Bronx NY native, Remo Da Rapstar, Sosa was able to move into the American mixtape circuit. The record that made major noise on both sides of the border was titled “I Bang”; a real hard street single produced by Count Money Cartel’s in-house producers “Soundsmith”. The track captured such a tremendous response that it found itself on rotation at major radio stations such as Eminem’s Shade 45 and NY’s Hot 97 being praised by some the industry’s biggest DJ’s, including DJ Whoo Kid, Dj Absolute, Dj Clue, Dj Green Lantern, Dj Wiz, Dj Fathom da Waxx Cutter, Dj Skee, Dj Big Mike and many more. The track was also featured on over 150 mixtapes within the USA hosted by super DJ’s such as Big Mike and DJ Khaled, and it also made Richie Sosa the only north artist to have a spot on the most popular mixtape of the year, DJ Drama’s “Gangsta Grillz 16.” The single solidified Sosa as a force to reckon with and put all eyes on him as the world waits patiently for his debut ground breaking innovative, solo album which may possibly be released through a major label.

The lyrics above were taken from his latest single titled “On My Way” where we find Richie Sosa putting the same formula used on “I Bang” to work, creating a street single with the grimey feel to it but this time it is packaged with a clear message, RICHIE SOSA IS ON HIS WAY! Sosa understands that to succeed where others have failed it takes more than just the ability to bless the microphone. His determination to create a major movement with the help of CMC can be felt through his music and seen through his accomplishments. When you create a mix of individuals who posses impressive business minds, outstanding passion for the music and an unstoppable hunger to make it to the top, you step one inch closer to the dream. 1VIBE Exclusive V.3 - 2008 SON240SX Bings/Niagara Meet

When we first introduced the “1VIBE Exclusive” category on our website we made a promise that we would be bringing you exclusive content that was not just about music but also about the other great things that life has to offer. In our mission to keep our promise we decided to make things a bit more interesting. HOWS THIS FOR AN EXCLUSIVE:

Aite so if you don’t know the people behind 1VIBE (mainly Ildino(me) and ma boi Mix) then chances are you don’t know the passion that we have when it comes to cars. MIX got the chance to live in Japan at a young age for a while where he was exposed to some of the most impressive cars to have ever been engineered. For me, it all really started in high school.. when me and my dudes came into possession of a few Honda master keys.. and ill leave the rest to your imagination.. but you get the point. This past year ma boi Mix hooked up with his new girlfriend… a 1995 S14 Nissan 240sx (big ups to Fiddy). Now for those of you who know about cars, you know what a 240sx is.. for those of you who don’t.. well be prepared for what you are about to see. So continuing with the story… after falling in love with his 1995 240sx, Mix joined a forum “Son240sx.org” which is the official community for Southern Ontario 240sx Club. The forum was such a cool place.. that we decided to attend one of the 240sx meets. The good news is we joined at the right time.. just before the 2008 SON240SX Bings/Niagara Meet aka “The largest 240sx cruise on earth,” was to be held on Sunday, June 8th at St. Catharines, Ontario/Niagara.. in Canada of course. So we decided that this would be a great way to show people exactly what we are about and let you take a peek on how we living. Here is a break down of what happened:

We got our cameras ready, got up at 9 AM, jumped in Mix’s 240sx, with his cousin Shan, and hit our first location, Kenedy Commons. After we met up with about 10 members at Kenedy Commons we then rolled out to our next location, Square1 Mall in Mississauga, Ontario. At SQ1 things started to heat up.. at first we saw about 15 cars.. 2 hours later the parking lot was filled with over 40 sexy Nissans. After a few hours of mad heat from the sun and coverage of the cars that were brought for showcase.. we finally were on our way to St. Catharines, Ontario/Niagara. The place where the official meet was held at was a restaurant owned by the parents of the meet organizer who goes by the name of “Bing”. I must say… that meeting was one of the best events i have ever attended in my whole entire life. In total there must have been around 70 - 100 cars in that showed up to the meet. Nothing beats beautiful cars, beautiful weather, amazing people, all you can eat buffet, and cruising around Niagara for 1 full hour with an army of 100 240sx’s lined up in one lane. Much respect and appreciation goes out to BING and all the people who helped organize this amazing meet.. and we hope that 1VIBE will help in growing the SON240SX Club. During our time at the meet we were able to shoot some cool pictures, and a few video clips (which will be posted at a later date).

1VIBE Exclusive V.2 - Usher’s “Here I Stand” Album Review

‘I think we’ve got something special’ with this one.

Four years since his last album and fourteen years since he first hit the stage, Ushers finally made his way back into the heart’s of the ladies with his fifth album, “Here I Stand”. Unlike his previous projects which showcased club-popping beats and lyrics, Usher’s taken the next stand and truly grown as an artist and as a man. Marriage and fatherhood have inspired his latest work, but it’s hard to break old habits as Usher’s ‘Appetite’ craves the mysteries of his past. Adventurous, playful, and seductive tracks like ‘Trading Places’, ‘What’s a Man to do’ and ‘Appetite’ are enough to question Usher’s loyalty, yet he redeems himself with the ballads, ‘Something Special’, ‘Lifetime’, and ‘Love you Gently’.

Distinct from his ‘Confessions’ which appealed to mostly R&B fans, this album has expanded to attract listeners from across the board; jazz, techno-pop, soul, and rap. The singer also teamed up with hot artists Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy and Jay-Z to spice things up. Those awaiting many club tracks may be disappointed, but this album is sure to please those devoted fan’s who been here since the ‘You Make me Wanna’ days of Usher’s precarious youth.

‘Here I Stand’ presents a confident yet vulnerable Usher who toils between his passion for the ladies, and his love for that one lady. His most sultry song, ‘Trading Places’ has the right combination of vocals and beats to take a person back to the early 90s as Boys II Men stepped into the spotlight and became the best selling R&B male group of all time. Usher’s talent and popularity is in close grasp of his predecessors R. Kelly, Michael Jackson and Prince, yet many fear that he lacks the ambition to exceed them. Nevertheless, this album will not disappoint as it boasts Usher’s originality, passion, and his ability to please.

Usher’s making moments that’ll outlast this world.

1VIBE Exclusive V.1 - Money Talks

Money talks, I hear it calling out to me. It seems like the more I get out into the world the more I truly see how much we are affected by our economy. Who ever said money can’t buy happiness or money isn’t everything must have been living in one depressing and ancient world. Wait… I take that back, because even in the ancient times it was all about money, power, and respect. Since the first modern societies arose wealth was the governing factor. If you didn’t have the shiniest beads, gems, or any form of currency you were better of living in the mountains and doing your own thing to survive.

In today’s era of millionaires, billionaires, and “rich people”, having average pockets just doesn’t cut it anymore. When it comes to the justice system, money talks. Health care, money talks. Entertainment, food, shelter…..money talks. And I mean how hard of a choice is it between a Lambo and a Civic. If it was up to me it would be Lambo or Ferrari. You may not see it but every loonie, dollar bill, or what ever currency you use has more to it than a numerical value. It has the power to change lives. Some say money is the root of all evil, I can point out personal experiences and totally agree, however whether it be for the good or for the bad the choice is still in the hands of the holder. I’m a dreamer even though things don’t work that easy. But what’s the point of dreaming at all if you’re not dreaming big. I’m not asking for it all, but I’m taking all that I can get and if it so happens that one day I am able to acquire it all, then so be it. Money talks, I hear it calling out to me so I’m going to keep chasing it.
